Stress, being emotionally overwhelmed and pain are uninvited guests in our daily lives; however, they are part of the human condition. Stress and pain may have you feeling irritable, tense, depressed and anxious, which impacts your entire life. The KEY to regaining balance is responding to these stressors with mindful, non-judgmental awareness. Impossible? Research has shown that mindfulness-based approaches to healing the body and mind are highly effective and can even change our brain. Mindfulness meditation has proven to help individuals reduce stress, pain, anxiety, depression, insomnia, cravings and increase overall quality of life and well-being. The Center for Mindfulness describes the practice as “a way of learning to relate directly to whatever is happening in your life, a way of taking charge of your life, a way of doing something for yourself that no one else can do for you — consciously and systematically working with your own stress, pain, illness and the challenges and demands of everyday life.” This Mindfulness-Based Group Therapy will guide you to well-being utilizing psychoeducation, mindfulness meditation, yoga and group discussion. Group members are highly encouraged to enhance their experience by implementing a consistent practice of mindfulness.
